Caring Makes Us Human

I was listening to NPR this weekend and one of the ‘This I Believe’ essays caught my ear…‘Caring Makes Us Human’ by Troy Chapman, an inmate at a correctional facility in Michigan.  A cat wanders in to the prison grounds and for a short while the inmates experience what it’s like to care for something vulnerable.  It’s a compelling situation, don’t you think, in multiple ways.  I don’t want to detract from the essay with comments until you’ve had a chance to experience it yourself.  It’s only 4 and a half minutes.  You can post your own comments here if you like after you’ve heard it.
